Move Monkeys are our children aged 6 and older who have a passion for moving, performing, and learning!

​

We offer two main class categories for Move Monkeys: multi-dance and style-specific options. Just like all kids, Move Monkeys learn at their own pace. While we provide age suggestions, we're flexible to meet each child's needs.

 

Throughout their development, students have the opportunity to take on different roles as leaders and followers, depending on where they are in their own journey. This individuality is something we celebrate, as most classrooms group students by birth year.

​

Our classes are designed to create a solid foundation in dance and movement, all in a fun and supportive environment. Plus, there are plenty of chances to perform! To make the most of your Move Monkeys experience, we recommend enrolling in 2 to 3 classes per week. You can mix and match Move Monkeys Multi-dance with one or more style classes for a well-rounded dance education.

Ages 6 to 10 years old 

Our Juniors are brimming with excitement as they transition from Little Movers to Move Monkeys, where we take Multi-Dance to the next level. Here, they explore various dance styles while building essential core abilities, enabling seamless transitions between styles.

 

In these classes, we introduce a structured approach, similar to a traditional classroom. Students take responsibility for their bodies and development, fostering disciplined learning, resilience, and the belief that they can achieve anything.

 

Each class starts with an invigorating jazz-style warm-up, followed by stretches focusing on flexibility and conditioning. We introduce kids to jazz, hip hop, kpop, and Latin dances, helping them discover their preferences and develop coordination, balance, and body control.

 

Each term, we teach 3-4 dance styles and encourage Juniors to perform, building confidence, performance skills, and goal achievement, while showcasing their abilities. These lifelong skills are essential for creating well-rounded individuals.

We focus on the five main dances: Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. We also dive into popular street Latin styles like Salsa and Bachata. During our sessions, we not only learn the dance moves but also discover the rich history and culture behind each style. We emphasize proper techniques, movement mechanics, posture, style, performance quality, and overall movement excellence.

Every class starts with energetic Latin walks that reinforce proper technique, get our hearts pumping, and clear away mental fog to prepare us for focused learning. We prioritize stretching to improve turnout and range of motion, and we delve deep into fundamental Latin techniques, with a strong focus on each dance style's unique movements and correct execution. Our ultimate goal is to enhance our performance quality.

Our emphasis is on using the right techniques, mastering movement mechanics, posture, style, and delivering top-notch performances.

We explore different KPOP dance styles, treating each choreography like a unique art piece while ensuring correct movements. We put a premium on performance quality.

Strength & Conditioning

As we delve deeper into dance, we realize the importance of having strong, flexible bodies. Strong muscles, flexibility, and stamina are key for injury prevention, quick muscle recovery, and mastering challenging moves while maintaining a cool, effortless look.

​

Our classes combine HIIT for kids, core control, balance exercises, and intensive stretching and recovery. Each class begins with a cardio combo to get our hearts pumping and clear away mental fog. We then dive into a 10 to 15-minute HIIT session, pushing our bodies to strengthen muscles and boost cardiovascular endurance. We transition to controlled strength training and focus on flexibility and conditioning during our stretches.

These classes are a valuable addition to any Move Monkeys' schedule, ensuring that their foundational strength, stamina, and flexibility won't limit their performance in other classes and shows.
